I'm a freelance photographer and filmmaker based in Bristol, England.

Trained as a zoologist, I’ve been lucky to travel fairly extensively, being involved with various wildlife and conservation organisations while developing my skills and love of photography and video.

Filming for landmark wildlife films and providing footage for National Geographic and the BBC, including David Attenborough’s “A Perfect Planet” (2020), as well as smaller scale projects, I’ve worked in Kenya making films about elephants, in the Caribbean and Indonesia filming underwater, Madagascar and Costa Rica photographing their unique wildlife, as well as projects in the UK, including filming the reintroduction of the first beavers to Cornwall in 400 years and making a documentary about the UK trade in shark meat.

My footage has also been used by GoPro in advertising campaigns, including the release of their 2020 flagship camera: the Hero 9.

My photos have been published in several international wildlife magazines, books and newspapers such as the New York Times, and although wildlife and nature remain my primary focus, I have also gained a passion for “shooting” people, be it in a studio environment with professional models, casual family portraits at home/on location, recording the magical relationship between people and their pets, to weddings and events.

Land-based photography is one thing, but getting beneath the waves to capture images and video of other-wordly creatures that inhabit the marine environment is hard to beat. As a qualified PADI Divemaster and Digital Underwater Photography Instructor I really can’t get enough of it!

Drones are a relatively recent tool for the photographer, but add a completely new perspective to things. As a CAA certified commercial drone operator I find aerial photography and filming has become a fantastic addition to my projects.

My aim is always to capture images that get beneath the surface and capture the essence of the subject, the uniqueness of the relationship, the joy of the moment. If it’s appropriate I can use digital editing techniques to play with colour and depth to produce a range of different styles and looks which can have a huge effect on the feel of an image. A look through the galleries will give you some examples.
